A clear winner has emerged as Spurs and West Ham battle one another for manager Mauricio Pochettino as their new boss.

Out of work Argentine manager Mauricio Pochettino has been heavily linked with both West Ham and his old club Tottenham Hotspur in recent months.

David Moyes is under huge pressure at West Ham. A report this week claimed the Hammers will part ways with the Scot in the summer even if they stay in the Premier League and win the Europa Conference League this season.

It comes amid an increasingly strained relationship between West Ham fans and their manager with a ‘Moyes Out’ banner raised in the away end at Fulham and supporters jeering the manager, who stared them down as he left the pitch.

Meanwhile over at bitter rivals Spurs, Daniel Levy is searching for a replacement for Antonio Conte after his recent departure.

Dutchman Arne Slot and ex Spurs boss Pochettino are said to be targets for the Hammers and Spurs.

Tottenham fans have been singing Pochettino’s name at matches and waving banners urging the club to reappoint their former boss.

It was previously reported that West Ham had made genuine approaches to sound out Pochettino, who has been out of work since leaving PSG.

As reported on Hammers News a couple of months ago, it was claimed Pochettino was keen on the West Ham job should Moyes be relieved of his duties.

Sources allegedly claimed Pochettino would be ‘keen’ on the West Ham job. And the report stated the ‘Hammers board were aware that he is available and interested’.

But now a clear winner has emerged as Spurs and West Ham battle one another for manager Pochettino.

And it is bad news for both.

Because a Spanish journalist claims Pochettino has been holding talks with Real Madrid and is being lined up to replace Carlo Ancelotti.

In fact Ancelotti is believed to have privately accepted the Brazil job because he has been told Pochettino will be the man to replace him.

Reporter Anton Meana told the El Larguero show on Cadena SER that Pochettino looks set to be the next manager at the Bernabeu.

“It would be big news if Ancelotti continued next year and even more so if he doesn’t win the Champions League,” Meana said.

“He knows that his future is up in the air…

“Pochettino did not want to coach Chelsea or Tottenham because he has something better and that smells bad to Ancelotti.

“Ancelotti knows that they are questioning him, and that is why he has opened the door to Brazil.”

It seems West Ham and Tottenham will have to look elsewhere.

The Times claims both the Hammers and Spurs want a manager who will play a more ‘progressive’ style of football.
