Reports suggesting that West Ham could be tempted to accept £50 million for Crysencio Summerville, as Manchester United look to reunite he and Mateus Fernandes at Old Trafford, have not gone down well in East London.

It emerged on Tuesday that Michael Carrick’s Red Devils have made an enquiry about Summerville.

And, following West Ham United’s relegation out of the Premier League, transfer market doyen David Ornstein claims that a fee in the region of £50 million might be enough to secure the Dutchman’s signature.

DISCUSS: How much would you sell Crysencio Summerville for this summer? 💰

Summerville's value is only going one way after his World Cup heroics 📈

As far as many Hammers supporters are concerned, though, Daniel Kretinsky should not even consider selling Crysencio Summerville for such a fee. Relegation or no relegation.

West Ham United fans want more than £50m for Crysencio Summerville

“And West Ham will replace him with £40m Lamine Yamal!,” one of Hammers News’ TalkingPoint readers says in response to those Man United rumours; the sarcasm about as subtle as the expression on Nuno Espirito Santo’s face when a certain tuna pancake-loving reporter pipes up during a press conference.

Summerville scored on his World Cup debut as the Netherlands played out a thrilling 2-2 draw with Japan.

The feeling among many West Ham fans is that a good few performances on the biggest stage, coupled with the news that Kretinsky has injected a further £90 million into the club, can only inflate Summerville’s value.

“After he has a decent World Cup, his price will go up to £70 million. Especially if we’re selling to Man United!” another argues.

“£140 million [for Fernandes and Summerville] and we’ll take it,” another says.

“He’s worth more than £50 million, so they will have to up their offer to £75 million. Otherwise, stop talking about him because you will not be getting him on the cheap.”

Hammers News reported on Saturday that Man United are in pole position to sign Mateus Fernandes. The Red Devils are willing to stump up a package in the region of £80 million in order to fight off competition from Paris Saint-Germain.

Of course, should West Ham bank an up-front fee of over £60, £65 million, that would reduce the pressure to cash in on their other star players.

“50 million is not enough. Jog on.”

“Add another £30 million [to Summerville’s price-tag].”

“£80 million or don’t bother.”

“No longer a buyer’s market at West Ham; it’s £80 million.”

How would you feel about selling Mateus Fernandes to Tottenham? 👀

It would feel so wrong seeing him in a Spurs shirt 😬

Shaka Hislop talks up Summerville’s Manchester United potential

While movement regarding Fernandes is expected to be slow following the sudden resignation of David Sullivan, The Telegraph reports that Man United need to get Marcus Rashford off the books before they can realistically make a move for the former Leeds starlet.

Speaking to ESPN UK following his well-taken, curling effort against Japan, former West Ham goalkeeper Shaka Hislop argued that Summerville has the potential to reach the next level, even if consistency remains a concern.

“I think Summerville started a little bit slowly for West Ham and then got better as the season went on,” Hislop says of a winger who scored seven of his eight Hammers goals from January 2026 onwards.

“That’s where the [£50m] valuation comes from. At 24, you can’t really call him a youngster, but he’s certainly trending well for Manchester United. If they do get him and he continues to progress, he will prove to be a very good signing indeed.

“I quite like this one.”
