A Telegraph journalist has revealed whether West Ham could sign 2 ex Spurs attackers as bids are reportedly readied.

Tottenham Hotspur allegedly “beat” West Ham to the signing of Timo Werner this week.

Although some West Ham fans believe their rivals Spurs have actually done them a favour on that front.

West Ham and Tottenham have suffered injuries to key players this season and it is forcing David Moyes and Ange Postecoglou into January transfer window action.

The Hammers are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements having lost Mohammed Kudus to AFCON and trio Lucas Paqueta, Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio to injury.

If widespread reports are to be believed two of West Ham’s targets are former Tottenham Hotspur players in the shape of Steven Bergwijn and Jack Clarke.

West Ham bids readied for 2 ex Spurs attackers

Sky Sports north east reporter Keith Downie has revealed the price West Ham would have to pay for Sunderland star Clarke – who signed for Spurs from Leeds for £10m back in 2019.

Meanwhile reports have been rife the Hammers could bring Dutch international Bergwijn back to London from Ajax after an unsuccessful stint with Tottenham.

But how about both?

A Telegraph journalist has revealed whether West Ham could sign 2 ex Spurs attackers as bids are readied.

Sam Dean says West Ham are serious about Clarke and Bergwijn and are preparing bids after the glut of injuries.

Hammers only intend to sign one

But the Hammers only intend to sign one of those former Tottenham forwards not both.

“West Ham are targeting Sunderland winger Jack Clarke and Ajax forward Steven Bergwijn in the January window as they look to cope with a series of injuries to key players,” Dean reports.

“A move to West Ham would give the 23-year-old another chance to establish himself in the top flight after a difficult spell at Tottenham earlier in his career…

“Telegraph Sport understands West Ham are weighing up bids for both players but are only expecting to sign one new forward in this window.”

With Paqueta setting the record straight on his injury after exaggerated reports and Bowen only expected to miss one Premier League game – perhaps one is all the Hammers need in attack in this window.

There could be further good news for the Hammers regarding Kudus and AFCON too.
