Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie has named the price West Ham will sign Jack Clarke for from Sunderland in the January window.

West Ham are desperately seeking additions in the January transfer window and that could be bad news for Sunderland.

David Moyes’ need for a new forward has become more acute in the last week to say the least. And it has coincided with increasing links to Sunderland’s star player Jack Clarke.

‘New Grealish’ a Hammers target

The Hammers were looking for an attacker before a glut of injuries to key players.

With Michail Antonio out for another six weeks, Mohammed Kudus away at AFCON until next month and both Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta also injured, Tim Steidten and Moyes are under pressure to find someone.

West Ham must also try to bring in players of homegrown status – a box which Sunderland star Clarke ticks.

TEAMtalk has claimed that Clarke – likened to Man City ace Jack Grealish – is being discussed at board level.

Downie names price West Ham will sign Clarke for

It is reported David Sullivan and co are examining the best way to bring the 23-year-old to the London Stadium in the January window.

Well according to a Sky Sports reporter very much in the know in the north east, there’s only one way to make that happen.

Keith Downie has named the price West Ham will sign the ‘new Grealish’ Clarke for from Sunderland.

Taking to social media, Downie confirmed West Ham’s interest. And he says Sunderland will sell for £20m.

‘Offer they can’t refuse’

“West Ham are interested in Sunderland winger Jack Clarke, according to colleague Dharmesh Sheth,” Downie reports.

“I’d expect Sunderland hold on to their prize asset this window though, unless they receive an offer they can’t refuse — of at least £20m.”

The Sunderland winger has bagged 12 goals and two assists in the Championship this season as detailed on Transfermarkt.

West Ham fans were interested spectators when Clarke and Sunderland took on Newcastle in the FA Cup. But many were left underwhelmed by his performance against a Premier League side and questioned whether he is up to playing for the Hammers.

Others believe he would thrive around better players in a side chasing a top six finish.

Clarke allegedly rejected West Ham in the past when he joined Tottenham.
