West Ham United star Konstantinos Mavropanos has offered hope over his injury return with a post on social media.
The West Ham injury list has been growing ever longer for David Moyes to kick off the new year.
And it’s impacting both ends of the Hammers team.
With Mohammed Kudus and Nayef Aguerd away at AFCON until next month, the last thing Moyes and West Ham needed was any injuries to key players.
Mavropanos offers injury return hope
But the FA Cup clash with Bristol City saw Lucas Paqueta (calf), Konstantinos Mavropanos (ribs) and Jarrod Bowen (ankle) join Michail Antonio in the treatment room.
Journalist Jacob Steinberg has delivered devastating news on that front. In that update it was stated the seriousness off Mavropanos’ rib injury was unclear.
But, reading between the lines, there may be some rare good news for the Hammers.
Because West Ham star Mavropanos has offered injury return hope with a post on social media.
The towering Greek centre-back had really started to look the part for West Ham of late.
And with Kurt Zouma’s knee worries and availability limitations he will be sorely needed.
Injury free apres ski?
So it is hugely encouraging that Mavropanos has posted a video to his Instagram Stories which appears to show him holidaying at a ski resort with his partner Lina Schwngr.
There’s no evidence to show Mavropanos is doing any skiing – something frowned upon by most football clubs due to the very real risk of injury.
But the fact he has been able to travel to a cold mountain resort suggests his rib injury is not too serious.
It would be a surprise to see the big Greek involved at Bristol next week.
The game against Sheffield United after that should be a realistic target, though, one would hope.
