One of West Ham United’s very best players this season is being linked with a return to his former club.

The January transfer window has already been a busy one of West Ham boss David Moyes, with numerous players being linked with moves to, and from, the London Stadium.

The Hammers have apparently agreed a deal to sign Kalvin Phillips, whilst talented young attacker Ibrahim Osman is a firm target of ours as well.

Meanwhile, Moyes is trying to move on some of the deadwood including the likes of Said Benrahma, with the powers that be at the London Stadium doing their very best to sell him.

Not one single person would be upset if the 28-year-old was sold, surely not. However, there is one player who the West Ham fans really would not want to lose…

West Ham blow with one of our best players keen to join former club

Il Romanista claim that Emerson Palmieri is wanted by Roma, and he is apparently ‘happy’ to push through a move to his former club.

If this is true, it’s absolutely devastating news for the Hammers. The 29-year-old has been exceptional for West Ham this season – somewhat unexpectedly so.

There is a genuine argument to be made for the Italy international being Hammer of the Year so far. It’s a toss up between him, Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus.

The fact that he’s even being mentioned alongside those three players, tells us all we need to know about his quality.

Emerson has been truly unbelievable down the left hand flank for the Hammers all season long. In 20 Premier League outings so far, Emerson has averaged 2.8 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 2.5 clearances per game (Who Scored).

The 29-year-old has also formed an incredible relationship and understanding with Paqueta further up the pitch.

Losing Emerson would be an absolute disaster for West Ham – he’s one of our very best players. Let’s just hope that the report coming out of Rome isn’t actually true. The Italian press have been known to stir things up in the past!
