West Ham United are reportedly now trying to sign talented left-back Leif Davis from Ipswich Town in January.
David Moyes definitely needs to bring a new left-back to West Ham, in order to compete with and provide cover for Emerson Palmieri.
The January transfer window will be obviously be a tough time to do that for the Hammers boss, but it appears as though there may be an opening for him.
According to The Football League Paper (print edition January 21st, page 8), Moyes could now try to bring Leif Davis to the London Stadium from Portman Road this winter.
It is suggested that the West Ham manager is prioritising a move to sign a left-back this winter.
Whether that is actually the case is debatable, but nonetheless, Davis would be a really useful addition to Moyes’s ranks…

West Ham prioritising left-back deal in January
Moyes has so many areas of his squad that are in need of strengthening, namely the centre-forward, centre-back, right-back and defensive midfield departments.
So bearing that in mind, it is somewhat surprising that the Scot might be prioritising strengthening in another area of his squad entirely.
In 24 Championship games for Ipswich this season, Davis has bagged a really impressive 10 assists. During those appearances, the 24-year-old has averaged 1.8 tackles and 1.1 interceptions per match (Who Scored).
He possesses pace and power in abundance and impressive technical ability as well. He also stands at 6ft tall as well, so that will greatly appeal to Moyes.
Leif Davis is a fabulous player, and I think he’d fit right in at the London Stadium.
However, I’m just not sure that signing the left-back should be a priority for West Ham in the January transfer window. As mentioned earlier though, I certainly wouldn’t turn my nose up at the prospect of Davis joining the Hammers this winter.
