West Ham manager David Moyes was full of praise for one player in particular after our defeat to Bristol City in the FA Cup last night.

David Moyes would have been irate with his West Ham players after the FA Cup clash with Bristol City at Ashton Gate.

The Hammers were outfought and outplayed by an average Championship side, and fringe players like Maxwel Cornet failed to impress.

Moyes even told reporters after the game that he needs to strengthen his squad this month – a very unusual play from the Scot.

That was one of the only positives for me last night – Moyes now knows without any doubt that he needs to make a couple of new additions before the transfer window slams shut.

Another positive for me was the performance of Callum Marshall when he came on as a second-half substitute, and Moyes was impressed by the Northern Irish youngster as well…

Moyes praises one West Ham player after Bristol City defeat

Moyes addressed the media after last night’s 1-0 defeat to the Robins.

And the Scot chose to praise Marshall, 19, after his 10 minute cameo appearance, as quoted by WHUFC.com:

“I’ve been really impressed with Callum Marshall. We want to bring him on and nurture him in the right way. He’s a great lad who scores goals and he’s a lover of football, which I really like, because it means he wants the ball and wants to play the game. He’s a good boy.”

Moyes is right, Marshall is a real talent and I actually think he has more about him than Divin Mubama.

The 19-year-old possesses real pace and impressive technical ability. He’s a very good finisher as well, as proven by his record of 21 goals in 18 games for the under-21s (Transfermarkt).

Marshall really impressed me when he came on for West Ham in the FA Cup against Bristol City last night. He definitely has something special about him.

And David Moyes clearly rates him very highly as well. It will be interesting to watch him develop and improve as a player over the next few years.
