The world’s most famous agent Jorge Mendes is ‘working to resolve’ a West Ham deal to sign Jota a new report claims.

West Ham’s moves to try and sign Ibrahim Osman and/or Jota before the January transfer window deadline are turning into sagas of sorts.

The move for Osman stalled when it was claimed West Ham majority owner David Sullivan was told not to pay the reported £18m asking price by a close advisor.

With Pablo Fornals and Said Benrahma looking likely to depart, the Hammers were already working to sign Al-Ittihad outcast Jota too.

But that deal has also proved difficult due to tax implications – as explained in a report on Hammers News.

Mendes ‘working to resolve’ Jota deal

There was a surprising twist in West Ham’s move for Jota on Tuesday when it was reported it could actually be an 18-month loan deal rather than just six months.

Just as fans were starting to get their hopes up, though, Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg claimed the deal is in jeopardy over the tax issue.

There’s still some hope, though, it seems.

Because the world’s most famous agent Jorge Mendes is ‘working to resolve’ the West Ham deal to sign Jota a report claims.

The website TeamTALK is now reporting that sources have told them Mendes is very much leading the talks between all parties in a bid to get a move done.

Not only that but Portuguese super agent Mendes is also negotiating an option to buy into the deal.

A taxing situation

Given the 58-year-old’s influence on football transfers, it will give West Ham renewed hope of getting Jota in the building.

“The Hammers dropped out of the race for Ibrahim Osman after having a £19m bid rejected by Nordsjaelland and put their full attention on Jota, getting his verbal agreement and the conditions of a deal from agent Jorge Mendes,” TeamTALK states.

“They have now moved into trying to complete a deal within the next 48 hours and talks are positive between parties…

“Al-Ittihad want a large loan fee and that is the main point of negotiations. There are also some sources stating an option to buy will also be included.”

The Hammers would be making a seriously good signing if they do manage to bring Jota to east London.

That’s according to a leading Celtic journalist who says West Ham will be signing a born entertainer.
