West Ham have a completely unrealistic plan for Pablo Fornals

West Ham United’s reported plan for midfielder Pablo Fornals really is wishful thinking indeed.

Pablo Fornals joined West Ham from Villarreal in the summer of 2019 for around £24 million (The Guardian).

Sevilla have already been heavily linked with a move to prise the 27-year-old away from the London Stadium.

Fornals has fallen well down the pecking order under Hammers boss David Moyes over the past year or so, and has made just 10 Premier League starts since October 1st 2022 (Transfermarkt).

Whenever he has played, he’s seemed to be well off the pace. That’s mostly due to the fact that Moyes always plays him out wide on the left – a position where he’s totally ineffective due to his lack of pace.

The Spaniard recently made it very clear that he is at his best when playing centrally.

He is running out of time at the London Stadium though, and he could be on his way out as soon as January…

West Ham have a completely unrealistic plan for Pablo Fornals

According to Claret and Hugh, Sevilla are showing interest in signing the Spaniard once again, and could bring him to Spain on a free transfer next summer.

However, they are also interested in signing him in January, but the Hammers will demand £10 million from the La Liga side – a £14 million loss on what we paid for him just over four years ago.

Sevilla are obviously free to agree a pre-contract arrangement with Fornals in January, but then they would have to wait another five months before they’re able to sign him on a free.

I really don’t see any kind of future whatsoever for Pablo Fornals at West Ham – he barely gets a sniff anymore.

The Spanish ace is obviously a very good player who still has a lot to offer at the very highest level.

His skillset just seems to be somewhat redundant at West Ham now though. And I won’t be shocked one little bit to see him leave the club in January.

However, if that does happen, I can’t see us getting anywhere near £10 million for a player who will be out of contract just four or five months later.
