West Ham have been dealt a big blow with the news that Arsenal want to sign Djibril Sow in the summer.

Alleged West Ham transfer target Djibril Sow is on the radar of Arsenal ahead of the summer window, according to a report from German media outlet Sport1.

And it is claimed that Gunners boss Mikel Arteta may be able to pick the 26-year-old Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder up on the cheap.

That’s a big blow for Hammers manager David Moyes. The Scot wants to bring Sow to the London Stadium this summer.

However, it seems as though the East London outfit could have our work cut out in the race to sign the Switzerland international this summer…

Arsenal could seal bargain deal for West Ham target Djibril Sow

Sport1 claim that despite Sow’s €35 million (£31 million) release clause, Eintracht Frankfurt could sell him for just €15 million (£13 million) this summer because his contract is set to expire in only 14 month’s time.

That sounds like absolutely unreal value to me, considering the 26-year-old’s outstanding ability.

I would love to see Sow at the London Stadium. He was brilliant for Eintracht Frankfurt against us last season and I think he would add so much to Moyes’s central midfield ranks.

However, Arsenal’s alleged interest in signing him will be a major blow to our hopes of signing him in the summer.

He is an orthodox central midfielder by trade, but can also operate in the deep-lying role or even in a more advanced position.

The Swiss ace possesses impressive technique, has a great engine, is a superb passer of the football and never shirks the physical battle.

In 25 Bundesliga appearances so far this season, the 25-year-old has bagged three goals. During those outings, Sow has averaged 1.4 tackles, 1.1 interceptions and 0.7 clearances per game (Who Scored).

During those 25 appearances, the midfielder has made 45.6 passes on average per match and has recorded an impressive completion rate of 85.8% (Who Scored).

With Sow’s all-round quality, strength, technical ability and outstanding potential, he would be the perfect summer signing for West Ham. Signing the Swiss ace for just £13 million would represent an unbelievably good deal for the club.

However, Arsenal could derail West Ham’s plans by signing Djibril Sow in the summer. And missing out on the Eintracht Frankfurt ace to the Gunners would be a bitter pill to swallow for the Hammers.
