The 27-year-old has been absolutely brilliant for the Hammers since he moved to the London Stadium from Rennes for around £30 million in the summer (Sky Sports).

Aguerd missed the first half of the season after he suffered a serious ankle injury during a pre-season friendly with Rangers at Ibrox in July.

The Scot was speaking to reporters last night after our embarrassing 5-1 defeat to Newcastle at the London Stadium.

Had Aguerd not made the mistake just after half-time, the end result may well have been a lot different than it turned out to be.

And Moyes responded when asked if the 27-year-old needs time to settle into the Premier League, as quoted by Football.London:

“No, it’s not acceptable. We’ve had others and actually, those who are here regularly will know we were at Rangers when he got his injury with something very similar, so it’s not acceptable.”

Despite Aguerd’s brilliance in a West Ham shirt so far this season, he does seem to have the odd mistake in him doesn’t he.

The centre-back seems to lose concentration at really important times and takes his eye off the ball in dangerous areas.

He did exactly that during the pre-season clash with Rangers and that in turn led to his ankle injury. Last night’s mistake against Newcastle was obviously a lot worse because it led to a goal.

David Moyes pulled no punches when asked about the Nayef Aguerd mistake last night. The Moroccan has to learn to cut those kind of things out of his game, and fast.
