David Moyes’s strange excuse for West Ham United’s struggles this season backfires as it was all his own making.
West Ham manager David Moyes has made numerous mistakes in charge at the London Stadium this term.

His Hammers side are currently sitting level on points with 18 placed Bournemouth in the Premier League table.

And it could be argued that only our fine form in Europe has kept him in a job at West Ham.
Relegation down to the Championship is a very real prospect for the Hammers this season. The fact that we are even in this position is beyond farcical and there is only one man to blame as far as I’m concerned…
David Moyes offers strange excuse for West Ham struggles
The Hammers boss addressed the media yesterday during his pre-match press conference.
And Moyes responded when asked what he thinks the main reason is for our problems in the Premier League this season, as quoted by Football.London:
“Injuries, maybe a bigger turnover than maybe I would have liked, if I look back at it. Losing Mark Noble, which was a big loss in many ways, but overall bringing in the players.”
Here’s the thing though Dave…the mere fact that you had to bring eight new players into the club in the summer was because of your own poor planning over the past two years.

If the Scot had added to his squad more adequately in the summer of 2021 and in the January transfer window in 2022, he would have only needed to make four or five new signings maximum before the start of this season.
The fact that Moyes thought signing Kurt Zouma and Nikola Vlasic and Alphonse Areola and Alex Kral on loan in the summer of 2021 would be enough proves just how poorly he planned the squad rebuild at the London Stadium.
West Ham ended up suffering because of that transfer window and David Moyes’s inaction the following January by missing out on a top four place.
And we’re are suffering even more so now as a consequence of eight new arrivals in the summer.
There is definitely merit in Moyes’s comments. Successfully integrating eight new players in one transfer window is almost an impossible task.
However, he doesn’t have the right to use that as an excuse because the fact that he had to sign so many players was because of his own poor planning.
He would have been better off saying nothing at all. It just rankles me that Moyes is never held to account in these press conferences when he continues to come out with utter rubbish with absolutely zero substance.
