A journalist has claimed Man United are trying to hijack a West Ham transfer but beware Hammers technical director Tim Steidten.

West Ham and Manchester United could soon find themselves going head-to-head for one of the most in-form players in Europe.

The Hammers and Man United shared plenty of transfer column inches during the summer.

Erik ten Hag was linked with Declan Rice before he joined Arsenal while West Ham almost signed Man United’s Harry Maguire and also bid for Scott McTominay.

West Ham’s new technical director Tim Steidten was widely regarded to have overseen one of the best windows in the Premier League.

Man United are trying to hijack West Ham transfer

But Man United succeeded were West Ham failed and that was in signing a striker – Rasmus Hojlund.

The Hammers are looking to address that issue next month by – according to a host of persistent reports – signing 16-goal Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy.

Not if the Red Devils get their way, though, it seems.

Because a journalist claims Man United are now trying to hijack the West Ham transfer but they should beware Steidten.

Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg claims Man United have enquired about 27-year-old Guirassy and have ‘concrete’ interest.

But they are yet to come to any agreement with talks at an ‘early stage’. And that should concern Manchester United fans if West Ham and Steidten are involved.

Because the Hammers recruitment chief knows all about Guirassy having spent his career in Bundesliga until the summer.

But beware Steidten Red Devils

And what Steidten wants, he usually gets – as West Ham found out to their benefit during the summer transfer window.

One Steidten gets on that jet West Ham fans know what happens next. And it may not end well for Man United.

We’ve been reporting recently on claims from multiple sources about West Ham preparing a move for the red hot forward.

There was encouragement that the Guinea ace is the man West Ham are eyeing in the January transfer window when Hammers News spoke to a top source inside the club who confirmed certain African players are high on the club’s list of targets.

Then this week German outlet BILD claimed the Hammers have a ‘concrete interest’ in signing Guirassy this winter, and would have to pay just €17.5 million (£15 million) to make it happen.

Now it seems Steidten will have to take on Man United for Guirassy’s signature.

But he could be West Ham’s trump card while London and more guaranteed game time will also help the Hammers’ case.
