A Spurs supporting Sky Sports reporter was left in awe of unsung West Ham hero Emerson Palmieri after the derby.

There are several household names in the West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur sides.

Even since Declan Rice and Harry Kane left the Hammers and Spurs in the summer.

Son Heung-min, James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski are just some of them for Tottenham.

When listing West Ham’s best players there are several who might spring to mind for most ahead of left-back Emerson Palmieri.

The likes of Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta, Mohammed Kudus to name but three who are perhaps the highest profile for the Hammers.

But David Moyes recently raised eyebrows outside of the West Ham bubble by claiming Emerson had been the team’s best player since the end of last season.

Hammers fans wholeheartedly agreed with the declaration.

Emerson has continued to shine for West Ham, including in the 2-1 comeback win over bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday night.

So much so the Brazil-born Italy international was man of the match for many and is starting to catch the attentions of those outside West Ham.

‘Levels I didn’t think he had’

Sky Sports reporter James Green, a big Tottenham fan, showed class as he took to social media last night to sing Emo’s praises.

“Emerson this year has gone to levels I didn’t think he had,” Green said on X.

“Superb again tonight.

“Top top second half performance that.”

So refreshing to see objective analysis

Credit where it is due, this shows what a professional Green is.

Not only is he putting aside the obvious pain of Tottenham losing to West Ham to deliver his assessment.

But to see past the obvious headline makers such as Bowen, James Ward-Prowse, Mohammed Kudus and Lukasz Fabianski is excellent objective analysis.

In a football media where much of the analysis and commentary has become far too subjective, it’s refreshing to see.

For our money Emo is neck and neck with Bowen for Hammer of the Year thus far.
