David Moyes has named the star who has low-key been West Ham’s best player since the end of last season as unsung hero Emerson Palmieri gets his flowers.

There are a number of players who can lay claim to being West Ham’s best so far this season.

And several of them are continuing their form from the back end of last term.

The likes of Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta and Kurt Zouma are perhaps the highest profile for the Hammers.

But now the manager has been singing the praises of one unsung hero.

Moyes names star who has low-key been one of West Ham’s best

David Moyes names the star who has low-key been West Ham’s best player since the end of last season as unsung hero Emerson Palmieri gets his flowers.

The left-back had a slow start when he joined from Chelsea for £13.5m in the summer of 2022.

But he is proving to be an absolute bargain for West Ham and one of the first names on the teamsheet.

The general consensus of opinion among West Ham fans is that things seemed to click into place for Emerson as a Hammer as last season drew to a close culminating in a man of the match display in the Europa Conference League final against Fiorentina.

‘He’s playing as well as anybody since before final’

And Moyes concurs, picking ‘Emo’ out for special praise for his excellent performances, the latest being in the win over Forest.

“I think he’s come on brilliantly well,” Moyes told whufc.com.

“Probably since the final or just before it, he was beginning to find a bit of form and then I think in the final he was probably the best player on the pitch. He was Man of the Match – Jarrod was with the goal, but with the way Emo played.

“I think he’s played really well for us. He’s got a really good connection with Lucas Paquetá which gives us something in there’s been a bit of development in that.

“I think Emo has done really well. I think he’s been consistent and steady and wouldn’t get mentioned at the moment because there’s a lot of mention of Paquetá or Mo (Kudus) or Jarrod, but I think Emerson is probably playing as well as anybody.”
