David Moyes turns down West Ham job and makes vow to manage a rival if David Sullivan doesn’t renew his deal claims a journalist.

Come with me and you’ll be in a world of pure imagination West Ham fans.

Except it’s not Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, it’s David Moyes and West Ham in a very different tale of fantasy where David Sullivan holds the golden ticket.

Last week Hammers News brought you an exclusive from the top source inside West Ham after an emphatic response to fresh speculation Moyes could be sacked.

The Scot is in the last year of his contract and West Ham – as a general rule – do not discuss renewals until the new year of any season at the earliest.

Moyes turns down West Ham job and makes vow

That will always give rise to speculation, tittle tattle and uncertainty.

Daily Mail journalist Mike Keegan claimed Moyes may quit management at the end of his West Ham contract and ‘move upstairs’ at the club or take up a job at UEFA.

Quite how that would have worked with Tim Steidten and Mark Noble in the technical and sporting director roles is anyone’s guess. And Moyes had only recently spoken of his desire to continue in management.

So it always seemed like a very odd claim. And so it has proved. Because now there has been a development.

A world of pure imagination

Milo Pope, another Mail journalist, now claims Moyes will turn down this imaginary Hammers director role “upstairs” as he wants to continue as manager.

And if Sullivan does not offer him a new deal to do that then he will take another Premier League job, the reporter claims.

“Sources close to him suggest he has no interest in taking on a director of football role,” Pope states.

“His preference is to also stay at the London Stadium, but if David Sullivan chooses not to keep him at the club he will try to stay in a managerial role in the Premier League.”

It remains to be seen whether majority owner Sullivan does renew Moyes’ contract.

What also remains to be see is whether Moyes – for all the praise aimed at the Scot from the media and other managers – would have any offers from Premier League clubs should he and West Ham go their separate ways.
