Journalist Alan Nixon has delivered a tantalising update on the West Ham interest in Bundesliga strike sensation Serhou Guirassy.

After a flying start to the season West Ham boss David Moyes’ decision not to sign a new striker in the summer has not been an issue thus far.

But time will tell whether West Ham live to regret that as they look to compete for the European spots, in the domestic cups and in the Europa League.

The Hammers did, according to reports, push to sign a striker in the summer. So Moyes clearly has plans to sign one in the near future, whether in January or next summer.

Striker light?

Michail Antonio, 34 in March, has been a great servant for West Ham and will continue to have an important role at the club.

But he cannot play every game and against certain opposition West Ham simply require a more clinical, ruthless forward.

West Ham were heavily linked with a move for 27-year-old Stuttgart star Serhou Guirassy in the summer.

Last weekend Hammers News reported on the exploits of one of the club’s alleged striker targets over in Germany.

We raved about Guirassy as he made it 11 goals – 10 of them in five Bundesliga games – and two assists in six matches for Stuttgart, who are currently second in the fledgling table.

And this weekend we covered reports from Bild which claim Guirassy has a release clause of just £17.5m which can be activated next summer.

That means he could well be sold by Stuttgart in January with a view to making more than that on their red hot forward.

With West Ham’s German technical director Tim Steidten heading up transfers and lines of communication between the Hammers and Stuttgart already open following the deal which brought Konstantinos Mavropanos to the London Stadium, previous links to Guirassy have to be taken seriously.

Now journalist Alan Nixon has delivered a tantalising update on the West Ham interest in Bundesliga strike sensation Guirassy.

In an exclusive on his Patreon page, Sun journalist Nixon claims Guirassy’s form has left several Premier League clubs red-faced over their failure to sign him for his previous paltry £13.5m release fee.

‘Opening old wounds among admirers – West Ham tried and failed’

Nixon reveals Guirassy has ‘always wanted to play in the Premier League’ and claims West Ham have indeed missed out on him in the past.

And he suggests his Premier League admirers such as the Hammers regret not pushing a move through and remain interested.

“Serhou Guirassy’s sensational form in Germany is causing some new grief and opening old wounds among his Premier League admirers….” Nixon said.

“Guinea international Guirassy always wanted to play in the Premier League and missed out on moves that could easily have been pushed through…

“Guirassy joined Stuttgart from Rennes on loan initially and then moved full time last summer. His goals return since has been remarkable.

“West Ham, Crystal Palace and Sheffield United also tried and failed for Guirassy earlier in his career when he was at Amiens and before he signed for Rennes.”
