James Ward-Prowse has taken a clear dig at David Moyes about his approach and believing in West Ham’s players.

There has been intense focus on David Moyes’ approach and tactics at West Ham this season.

Justifiably so with many fans unhappy at the style of play given the talent the Scot has at his disposal.

Particularly when compared with the way some of West Ham’s Premier League rivals such as Aston Villa, Newcastle, Brighton and Spurs play.

Many West Ham fans feel the team will not progress unless Moyes is replaced with a progressive, modern, attack-minded managed next summer.

West Ham were jeered off after a turgid display in the 1-1 draw against Palace at the weekend.

Ward-Prowse’s clear dig at Moyes about approach

And the performance levels and approach which has left many Hammers fans bored continued in a terrible first half at Tottenham in which West Ham had just 28% possession.

It was a complete surrender with Lucas Paqueta and Jarrod Bowen playing like extra full-backs for the most part. West Ham were fortunate to go in only 1-0 down at half-time.

The Irons rallied in the second half, though, and produced the kind of performance levels supporters know they are capable of having beaten the likes of Arsenal, Brighton and Chelsea this season.

Goals from Bowen and James Ward-Prowse sealed a memorable comeback win.

And after the game the latter spoke out on the manager’s tactics.

‘We can play too’ star reminds boss

He said he felt the Scot put too much focus on nullifying Spurs in the build-up and not enough on how West Ham’s talented team could hurt their rivals.

And he suggested the players rallied themselves to show they can play football too in the second half.

“Good result, good performance,” Ward-Prowse told Amazon Prime TV.

“I think a lot of the pre-game preparation was around them and their qualities.

“But we know what we’re about as a team and as a club.

“And I think that epitomised the group that we’ve got at the moment, it’s a strong group and heading in the right direction…

Moyes must take comments on board

“We were always in the game with the 1-0 and the next goal is important. And we got back in the game with a really important goal.

“Of course we dug deep, we were solid and I think we got a deserved three points…

“You have to be clinical playing counter attack and we certainly were.”

Ward-Prowse’s comments tally with what the likes of Nayef Aguerd and Bowen said before the game.

Both revealed West Ham had spent most of the build-up working on ways to combat Spurs’ style of play.

Hopefully Moyes will take heed of Ward-Prowse’s reminder that West Ham have some pretty good players themselves.
