West Ham face missing out on one of David Moyes’s top transfer target with Newcastle allegedly having entered the race to sign Amadou Onana.
That’s according to football journalist Dean Jones who told Give Me Sport that Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is now monitoring the 20-year-old Lille ace’s situation amidst interest from the Hammers.

Sky Sports claimed earlier this week that West Ham have made a £20 million bid for Onana.
And if true, that gives Newcastle an obvious advantage already.

It seems as though the Hammers could be set for a real battle with the Magpies for the signing of the Belgium international this summer…
West Ham face problem as Newcastle want to sign Onana
The 20-year-old Belgium international is a hugely talented young player.
We would absolutely love him at the London Stadium. There could be a big problem on the horizon for us though…
Dean Jones told Give Me Sport that Newcastle could scupper West Ham’s hopes of signing Onana in the summer transfer window:
“I know that with Onana, Newcastle have been keeping an eye on him too. So, if they were to look for somebody who’s not especially high-profile, but somebody of a specific style; a defensive midfielder, they might come in for him too.”

If Newcastle do indeed make a move to sign the Belgian, it could be curtains for the Hammers.
And losing out to the Toon in the race for the 20-year-old would be a massive blow for David Moyes.
He seems to have absolutely everything needed to succeed in the English game what with its intense nature and ferocious speed and tempo.
The 6ft 5in central midfielder is an absolute giant.
He’s powerful, energetic and has everything that Moyes will be looking for in the middle of the park.
The Belgium international is equally as strong with both feet, and that’s somewhat of a rarity in the modern game.
The 20-year-old is an absolute powerhouse of a player and would be an unreal addition to Moyes’s ranks at the London Stadium this summer. He has been described as an ‘incredible’ player by Total Football Analysis.
And with Newcastle allegedly keen to sign Onana this summer, the West Ham owners had better get their act in gear.
