West Ham United have allegedly been dealt a major blow in the race to sign Lille midfielder Amadou Onana this summer.
That’s according to club insiders Claret and Hugh who claim that the Hammers may have to fork out around £50 million for the 20-year-old.

That obviously won’t be happening.
Sky Sports claimed last night that West Ham have made a £20 million bid for Onana.
That bid was subsequently rejected.
The powerful, Patrick Vieira-like midfielder would be a truly sensational addition to David Moyes’s squad at the London Stadium this summer.

It seems as though signing the Belgium international in the summer transfer window may well be an unrealistic dream, however…
West Ham dealt Onana blow
Claret and Hugh reckon that Lille could demand as much as £50 million for the 6ft 6in midfielder this summer.
Now, if the Ligue 1 outfit are asking for that much, the Hammers won’t even be in the race.
It does seem like an awful lot of money for a 20-year-old, however. And Lille will be lucky to get anywhere near that amount for Onana, in spite of his obvious talent and potential.
Perhaps £30 million will be a more realistic fee for both Lille to expect and West Ham to pay.

Central midfield is definitely an area at the London Stadium where West Ham manager David Moyes needs to strengthen before the start of next season.
And Onana is definitely someone who the Scot should be trying to sign.
He seems to have absolutely everything needed to succeed in the English game what with its intense nature and ferocious speed and tempo.
The 6ft 6in central midfielder is an absolute giant.
He’s powerful, energetic and has everything that Moyes will be looking for in the middle of the park.
The Belgium international is equally as strong with both feet, and that’s somewhat of a rarity in the modern game.
If Lille really are demanding £50 million for Onana though, it’s obviously a huge blow for West Ham.
And Moyes may have to look at alternative transfer targets.
