Bordeaux striker Hwang Ui-jo is allegedly keen to join West Ham United in the summer transfer window.

That’s according to a report from Football Asian who claim that the Hammers are actually the only Premier League club in the race to sign the 29-year-old striker this summer.

Calciomercato first linked us with a £6 million move to sign the South Korea international last week.

We believe that West Ham should be doing a lot better than Hwang Ui-jo in all fairness.

David Moyes desperately needs to bring a top-class striker to the London Stadium before the start of the new season.

Michail Antonio cannot do everything on his own once again next term and is crying out for some real competition.

It seems as though Moyes has a very good opportunity to strengthen his centre-forward ranks this summer. It could be argued that Hwang Ui-jo just isn’t the man for the job though…

Striker is keen to join West Ham

According to a report from Football Asian, Hwang Ui-jo wants to move to the Premier League from Ligue 1 and join the Hammers this summer.

The 29-year-old is a hard-working forward and bagged 11 goals and two assists in 32 Ligue 1 outings last season (Transfermarkt).

Hwang Ui-jo is a centre-forward by trade but can also operate anywhere along the front-line – something that will undoubtedly appeal to David Moyes.

The Bordeaux ace is a very decent player but the fact is, he’ll be 30 in August.

The South Korean is totally unproven in the Premier League and he might find it difficult to adjust to the intense nature of the English game at his age.

The Hammers could, and should, be aiming a lot higher than the Bordeaux striker in my opinion.

£6 million for the forward does sound like very good value indeed for the Hammers.

In my view though, West Ham would be wise to avoid a deal to sign the Bordeaux striker this summer. There are so many better options out there available to us.

The report claiming that the striker is keen to join West Ham this summer is all well and good but if Moyes doesn’t actually want to sign him, then he won’t be coming to the London Stadium.
