Jesse Lingard is allegedly ready to sign for West Ham United as he looks to force his way back into the England squad ahead of the World Cup in Qatar.

That’s according to a report from The Daily Mail who claim that the Hammers are set to beat Everton and Tottenham Hotspur to the 29-year-old free agent’s signature.

Jesse Lingard was exceptional for West Ham during a four-month loan spell in the 2020/21 campaign and it’s little wonder why David Moyes wants to bring him back to the London Stadium.

It was actually reported at the end of last month that the Hammers are closing in on a deal to bring the 32-capped England international back to the club.

Moyes has clearly identified the free agent as one of his key transfer targets this summer.

And now it seems as though Jesse himself has now made up his mind as well…

Lingard ready to sign for West Ham

The Daily Mail reckon that Jesse has decided to rejoin the Hammers rather than Tottenham or Everton this summer.

The 29-year-old is now a free agent and is allegedly demanding around £150k-a-week (The Daily Mail).

That sounds like a lot of money but it’s worth remembering that West Ham don’t have to pay. transfer fee for him.

We paid £18 million to sign Andriy Yarmolenko and offered him a £115k-a-week salary!

David Moyes absolutely loves the attacking midfielder and recently described him as an ‘incredible’ player (Claret and Hugh). Mark Noble was impressed too, and labelled Lingard as ‘phenomenal’ (Daily Mail).

We believe that bringing the England International back is a no-brainer for the Hammers. Please let’s get a deal done for him quickly and efficiently though!

Whilst we expect the Hammers to balk at paying Lingard £150k-a-week, he proved during his loan spell with us just how effective he can be for us in our counter-attacking setup. So it will be worth offering him a very decent package indeed.

The 32-capped England international is still one of the very best attacking players around on his day. There question will be whether he has the hunger to prove himself anymore.

We believe that signing Jesse will be well worth the risk though.

With Lingard allegedly ready to sign for West Ham, let’s hope that the board get this one done quickly.
