West Ham board now firmly discussing signing English winger in January

West Ham United are eyeing up the signing of a new winger in the January transfer window it seems.

David Moyes has a whole host of injury problems to contend with, so the January transfer window has come at a good time for the West Ham boss.

Hammers insiders claimed today that the club are nowhere near signing anybody, but I don’t think that’s actually a bad thing, considering how little value there is to be had in January.

However, there does appear to be some transfer news that is positive for the West Ham fans.

TEAMtalk claim that Jack Clarke is being discussed at board level, and the owners are thinking of the best way to bring the 23-year-old to the London Stadium in the January transfer window.

The Sunderland winger has bagged 12 goals and two assists in the Championship this season (Transfermarkt), and Moyes has already been linked with a move to sign him.

Now it seems as though there is serious discussion in the London Stadium boardroom about bringing the former Leeds and Tottenham man to the club…

West Ham interested in signing English winger

TEAMtalk reckon that Clarke is firmly on the Hammers’ radar this winter, and the club’s owners are discussing the best way to go about bringing him to the club, whatever that means!

I like the 23-year-old a lot, but I have to say, he really disappointed during Sunderland’s defeat to Newcastle on Saturday.

Is that because he just had an off day, or is he just not ready to mix it with the Premier League big boys? I’m not too sure what the answer is if I’m honest.

The young Englishman possesses very impressive technical ability, but it must be said, he really does lack the kind of pace and strength needed to succeed in the Premier League.

I’m not saying he’s a bad player, he’s a top talent on his day. I’m just not sure he’ll ever be cut out for the very highest level of the game.

I think that Steven Bergwijn is the winger who West Ham should be going all out to sign in the January transfer window.

If Moyes is going to sign a forward this month, it will be vital that the Scot makes the correct decision regarding which player he brings in.
