West Ham United are eyeing up a move to sign a young English attacker as well as Steven Bergwijn in January.

West Ham are eyeing up a move to sign Steven Bergwijn in the January transfer window, and our pursuit of the 26-year-old is said to be gathering pace.

However, it seems like Hammers boss David Moyes is looking a little closer to home for another attacking signing in addition to the Netherlands international.

According to a report from the Mirror, West Ham are now keen to sign Jack Clarke from Sunderland in the January window.

The 23-year-old has really impressed in the Championship with the Black Cats this season, after a failed spell with Tottenham following a big money move from Leeds in 2019.

And now Clarke could be set for a big move back to the Premier League…

West Ham eyeing another attacker in addition to Steven Bergwijn

Hammers boss Moyes appears to have his eyes set on the signing of Jack Clarke in addition to the Dutch flyer.

I think the 23-year-old would be a decent addition for us, but I won’t be losing any sleep if we don’t sign him this winter.

Clarke has bagged 12 goals and two assists in 26 Championship games for Sunderland so far this season (Transfermarkt).

The young Englishman possesses very impressive technical ability, but he really does lack the kind of pace and strength needed to succeed in the Premier League.

Anyone who watched the Sunderland vs Newcastle FA Cup clash on Saturday would have seen just how far off the pace Clarke was. I’m not saying he’s a bad player, he’s a top talent on his day. I’m just not sure he’ll ever be cut out for the very highest level of the game.

I think that Steven Bergwijn is the man who West Ham should be going all out to sign in the January transfer window.

The Dutchman has real pace, is a very good finisher, can play anywhere along the front-line and is the finished article…unlike Jack Clarke.
