David Moyes makes truly baffling Danny Ings claim after West Ham vs Bristol City draw

West Ham drew with Bristol City in the FA Cup yesterday, and David Moyes made some really strange remarks about Danny Ings after the game.

David Moyes brought Danny Ings on from the bench after 75 minutes of the West Ham vs Bristol City FA Cup clash yesterday.

The Hammers striker did absolutely nothing of note when he was introduced into the game against the Robins.

The 31-year-old has absolutely no pace and zero physicality. Yes, he has a decent touch when he receives the ball but what good does that do in Moyes’s system – one that requires the centre-forward to run the channels and bully opposing defenders?

West Ham are allegedly prepared to sell Ings in the January transfer window, and on a personal note, I can’t wait until he’s sold.

In spite of that though, Moyes was actually complimentary of the striker when speaking to reporters after the match yesterday…

David Moyes makes baffling Danny Ings claim

The Scot addressed the media after our 1-1 FA Cup draw with Bristol City at the London Stadium yesterday.

And Moyes responded when asked if he could sell Ings in the January window, as quoted by the Independent:

“Danny was probably the best player when he came on. I’d talk about his performance rather than anything else.”

I’m really not sure what game Moyes was watching yesterday!

Listen, don’t get me wrong, there weren’t any good performers for us really. But let’s have it right, Ings was particularly bad, as he has been in pretty much every single game he played for West Ham over the past year.

He missed a great chance and I’m sorry, but I just didn’t see sufficient effort being put in by the centre-forward either!

The 31-year-old is completely finished at the very highest level, and the sooner we move him on the better for all parties involved.

Surely David Moyes can see that Danny Ings is painfully ill-suited to the system that he wants his team to play!

And despite the West Ham manager’s comments yesterday, I still fully expect the former Aston Villa striker to leave the London Stadium this winter.
