West Ham United director of football Tim Steidten is targeting managers to replace David Moyes from two very specific regions it seems.
Tim Steidten arrived at West Ham in July, but it seems as though he is the one who holds all the power now over the future of David Moyes.
The 44-year-old German has already made a big impression at the London Stadium and allegedly could be a target for Liverpool, but Ben Jacobs suggested just a few days ago that he will not be moving to Anfield.
That’s great news for the Hammers fans, but seemingly not for Moyes. The Scot is really feeling the heat right now, and it has been claimed that he could be sacked if results to not improve quickly.
West Ham haven’t won a game in our last eight outings in all competitions so that’s no surprise really is it. And if the Hammers owners do part ways with the Scot, it seems as though Steidten will be tasked with finding his replacement…
Tim Steidten begins two-pronged search for David Moyes replacement
The German has just added his brother Moritz to his scouting network at West Ham (Daily Mail), so it seems like he’s here to stay. The same cannot be said for Moyes though.
Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport that Steidten is looking at the Bundesliga and South America for a manager to replace Moyes:
“Even if it’s not going to be a huge name, perhaps like Thomas Tuchel, they want a manager with proven pedigree and specific traits, particularly in coaching, that is going to fit with the vision that they have going forward. Tim Steidten is going to be integral in picking the manager that comes in next, and he is exploring options at the moment. I know that he is looking at quite a few coaches from the Bundesliga. I’m also told there are a couple of options in South America as well, so it’s not as simple as just going and looking at managers that have done pretty well in the Premier League recently.”
Quite who will come in to replace Moyes remains a mystery right now.
The other thing worth noting is that it wouldn’t surprise any of us if the owners were to hand the Scot a new contract – he came out and told the press on Friday that a new deal is there waiting for him to sign.
I really don’t think that the 60-year-old is the man we need to take us to the next level. And if Tim Steidten is being tasked with replacing David Moyes, I trust him implicitly to bring in the right man for the job.
