A reporter very close to West Ham owner David Sullivan has made a very big claim about head of recruitment Rob Newman.
Rob Newman was appointed as the West Ham head of recruitment back in 2021, and worked closely with David Moyes to bring in the likes of Nayef Aguerd, Emerson Palmieri, Luizao and Flynn Downes.
However, Claret and Hugh are now claiming that Newman’s role with the Hammers is now under the spotlight. That said, it is highlighted by C&H that no decision will be made on the head of recruitment until Moyes’s future is sorted out.
The 59-year-old’s role has been undermined since the summer arrival of Tim Steidten, with the German now pulling the strings in the transfer market.
It was actually suggested back in May that Moyes and Newman were ‘done’ at West Ham, but they obviously both rode out that particular storm.
Now though, the end seems to near for the former Manchester City scout…

Newman is walking on very thin ice according to Hammers insiders Claret and Hugh.
In my opinion, he is serving absolutely no purpose at the London Stadium right now, so he should be moved on.
Steidten clearly has full power when it comes to transfers, and rightly so – he orchestrated some excellent additions in the summer.
I feel like Moyes will be moved on from his role as manager at the London Stadium sooner rather than later, and Newman will follow him out the door.
He just hasn’t really done enough to justify his role since joining the Hammers, as far as I’m concerned.
Rob Newman’s spell at West Ham has to go down as an unsuccessful one so far, and it seems like it will be coming to an end soon.
