West Ham United appear to have made a transfer U-turn on one of our players after yesterday’s draw with Sheffield United.
The transfer U-turn apparently happened after one West Ham player put in a truly top-class performance yesterday afternoon.
The Hammers ended up drawing with Sheffield United, but the only reason we didn’t win the match was down to two horrendous decisions late on in the game from referee Michael Salisbury, and the Premier League owe us a big apology as far as I’m concerned.
David Moyes would have been absolutely seething with the result, and the manner in which it manifested.
However, the Scot was clearly thinking positively after the match about one player in particular – Ben Johnson.
The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a London Stadium exit in the January transfer window, after news emerged that he was unhappy with the club’s latest new contract offer.
Johnson will be out of contract with West Ham in the summer, and it looked for all the world like the 23-year-old would leave, but it now seems like he could be set for a longer term stay with the club…

According to club insider Sean Whetstone, the Hammers have decided to keep Johnson, rather than let him go this month.
And after his performance yesterday, West Ham could make a new contract offer to the academy graduate.
What was remarkable about Johnson’s performance yesterday was the fact that he was deployed in a central midfield role when he came on.
Perhaps he has been misused as a full-back over the past few years. Maybe the 23-year-old has just been profiled incorrectly as a defender, when he is in fact at his best in the middle of the park.
Johnson definitely impressed against Sheffield United but we have to remember that he lost the ball in the build-up to the penalty that we conceded, after he was caught dawdling in possession.
I’m still not convinced that the Hammers academy graduate is the man we need, whether he plays in central midfield or at full-back.
If West Ham have made a transfer U-turn on Johnson, and offer him a new long-term deal, it will be a very risky move as far as I’m concerned.
