West Ham United were really hard done by during the clash with Sheffield United yesterday, and the Premier League owe us a big apology as far as I’m concerned.
Sheffield United were awarded an absolute joke of a penalty deep into injury time, before Premier League referee Michael Salisbury failed to award West Ham a spot-kick just one minute later when Jarrod Bowen was rugby tackled inside the box.
It really was abysmal officiating from Salisbury – with two horrendous decisions in the space of a couple of minutes that ended up costing the Hammers all three points against the Blades.
Manager David Moyes and the West Ham fans would have been absolutely fuming yesterday afternoon, and rightly so.
It’s not the first time we’ve been done over by the Premier League though, far from it in fact…
Premier League owe West Ham second huge apology in just three weeks
We were due a ‘sorry’ for the Premier League earlier this month as far as I’m concerned, after their festive schedule meant that Liverpool were able to call upon Mohamed Salah for their clash with Newcastle on January 1st, but we weren’t able to do the same with Mohammed Kudus only a day later.
And now the Premier League owe us another huge apology!
Even then, it won’t be enough. West Ham lost out on two points yesterday because of horrendous officiating, both from the referee and the VAR team.
It’s quite simply not good enough, this stuff seems to be happening week in week out.
VAR was apparently brought in to stop clear and obvious mistakes from being made, but that just isn’t happening is it.
It’s a flawed system being used to keep teams like West Ham in our place, and outside of the top four promised land.
The Premier League unquestionably owe West Ham a very big apology, for the second time in three weeks. The thing is, it won’t give us the two points back, and that’s what hurts the most. The Hammers weren’t very good yesterday, but we were more than deserving of the three points in my opinion.
