That’s unfortunate for the Hammers, with David Moyes thought to be keen to bring Guendouzi back to the Premier League.

West Ham could miss out on Matteo Guendouzi to Aston Villa

The Hammers are trailing Villa in the race to sign the 24-year-old former Gunner from Marseille this summer.

That’s according to a report from L’Equipe who claim that Unai Emery’s relationship with the Frenchman will give the Villans a huge advantage in the race for his signature.

Arsenal fanzine Pain in the Arsenal once described Guendouzi as a ‘special player’.

I think that the Marseille ace would have been a really useful addition for West Ham, so missing out on him will be a big shame in my book.

Foot Mercato claim that Marseille want around €30 million (£26 million) for the 24-year-old former Arsenal midfielder.

That’s fantastic value int he current market.

The 24-year-old is a very good passer of the football and is a strong, tenacious tackler. If Moyes brought him into the London Stadium this summer for £26 million in addition to another central midfielder, someone like Ibrahim Sangare, then it would be great business for the Hammers.

However, it seems as though Aston Villa are the clear front-runners in the race to sign Matteo Guendouzi.
