Paul Merson has just made an extremely strange claim about West Ham United striker Michail Antonio.
West Ham attacker Michail Antonio suffered a knee injury whilst away on international duty with Jamaica – one that allegedly could keep him out for as little as three weeks or as long as nine months – and Paul Merson has been speaking about the 33-year-old’s potential absence.
Unfortunately for us, Jarrod Bowen is an injury concern as well, and a worrying recent report claimed that he could be forced to undergo surgery as a worst case scenario.

Antonio has been bang out of form for the Hammers this season, and David Moyes is apparently keen to replace him with Jonathan David in January.
The Scot absolutely should be looking to move Mikey on – his return of just two goals in all competitions this season really is a pitiful tally for a supposed ‘number nine’.
He has regressed badly over the past 12 months or so, and his limitations have been painfully obvious to see recently – something that makes Merson’s latest claim utterly baffling…

Paul Merson makes strange Michail Antonio claim
Merson has been speaking about West Ham’s upcoming Premier League clash with Burnley at Turf Moor.
When writing his column for Sportskeeda, Merson highlighted just how much the Hammers will miss Antonio:
“A couple of their crucial players, Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen , had to leave the Jamaica and England camps respectively due to injury, and if they’re not going to play, the Hammers will be weak. If these big names are missing, then Burnley could win this one. Antonio, especially, is going to be a big miss for West Ham.”
Ermmm….I reckon we might miss Bowen more than Antonio Paul!
The former Nottingham Forest man has been absolutely woeful for West Ham this season, whilst the 26-year-old ex-Hull City attacker has been quite simply brilliant, with nine goals and three assists to his name already.
I genuinely don’t think we will miss the Jamaica international at all. He should be behind Bowen, Divin Mubama and even Mohammed Kudus as a centre-forward option as far as I’m concerned.
The sooner we sell Michail Antonio the better, and that statement makes the claim by Paul Merosn seem even more absurd than it already was.
