Michail Antonio has opened up on the confusion between him and Said Benrahma during West Ham United’s defeat to Brentford last weekend.
West Ham lost the match 3-2, but the outcome could have been very different indeed had Michail Antonio not stolen the ball from Said Benrahma with an open goal gaping wide in front of him.

It really was shocking from the 33-year-old, and talkSPORT pundit Gabby Agbonlahor labelled his actions as ’embarrassing’ earlier this week.
Antonio was left out of the starting lineup for our Europa League clash with Olympiacos on Thursday night, and I expect to see more of the same today from Hammers boss David Moyes.
The former Nottingham Forest forward has been incredibly poor this season, and he needs to realise that he’s not a shoo-in to start every single week…

Michail Antonio opens up on Said Benrahma incident
The Hammers forward was once again putting plenty of effort into making people laugh on the Footballer’s Football Podcast this week.
And Antonio risked the wrath of the fans and his teammates yet again with an extremely selfish admission about what happened last weekend:
“I would give my whole year’s wage to score a goal right now. I don’t know what it is but there’s some type of voodoo or something blocking me in front of goal because it’s just not happening. When I look back at it, I possibly should have left it for him [Benrahma] because obviously I’m stretching and he’s just there, on his right foot. But the man’s got to shout. Man’s gotta shout. There was no call, he was just there and obviously we’ve just clashed into each other as I’m trying to score, so he’s got to shout and let me know that he’s there in a better position. To be honest, I don’t know if I would leave it anyway. Even if he was screaming in my ear, I don’t know if I would’ve left it. I’m a number nine, I ain’t scored in three months, open goal, I don’t know. I’m devastated. I didn’t sleep a wink that night, it gave me nightmares I’m not gonna lie. The worst thing about it is I have been praying to God to get an opportunity, then it came and it just didn’t come off.”
I’m not so sure that Benrahma didn’t shout for the ball – his reaction surely proved that he did. That said, we don’t know for sure.
Maybe he did shout and Antonio didn’t hear him? Either way it was awful from the Jamaican. The fact that he said he probably wouldn’t have listened had Benny shouted anyway just makes him look really silly here. It actually angered me hearing him say that.
What’s more important, the team or your goal drought Micky?
It comes across to me that he is more interest in scoring goals than he is doing good work for the team. Every single time he comes out with something on his podcast, it just puts him under more pressure and paints him in a bad light.
He said he’s a number 9…seriously? Michail Antonio has scored two goals for West Ham this season, and the fact that he was so desperate to score ahead of Said Benrahma last weekend proves to me that he shouldn’t be anywhere near the team.
He wants to score so he can go on his podcast and boast to Callum Wilson about it. It’s not on, and he shouldn’t be anywhere near the first-team in my opinion.
