West Ham United will reportedly try to replace 33-year-old striker Michail Antonio in the January transfer window.

Michail Antonio has been a fine servant for West Ham over the past eight years, but the time has come for David Moyes to replace him.

The Hammers striker has really struggled this season with just two goals to his name so far (Transfermarkt), and he now faces a spell on the sidelines after suffering an injury when playing for Jamaica yesterday.

Antonio just isn’t the player he once was, and replacing him with a younger, more pacy and clinical striker should be one of Moyes’s main priorities over the course of the next two transfer windows.

Jonathan David is a man on the West Ham radar according to the Mirror, and we’ve been linked with a move to sign the £52 million-rated 23-year-old hitman on numerous occasions in the past.

It seems as though the Hammers are keeping a very close eye on him heading into the January transfer window

West Ham to replace Michail Antonio

The Mirror reckon that Lille hitman Jonathan David is an option for the Hammers this winter, although he definitely won’t come cheap.

What a signing this would be for West Ham – he’d be a huge upgrade on Antonio and would take us to a whole new level.

Canada boss John Hermann raved about the striker, when asked about David and his international teammate Alphonso Davies, as quoted by Canada Soccer Daily:

“They’re bloody good players. They’re next level.”

David is exceptionally quick and is a supreme finisher. He banged in 24 goals in 37 Ligue 1 games last season and has bagged a hugely impressive 25 goals in 42 games for Canada (Transfermarkt).

He’s perfectly built for the Premier League, what with his blistering pace, robust physicality and impressive character.

West Ham United will make great strides towards becoming a consistent top seven side if we replace Michail Antonio with the electric Canada international in the January transfer window.
