A major claim has been made about a potential new West Ham shirt sponsor to replace Betway as a board confidant provides a detailed update.

News emerged somewhat out of the blue this week that two companies were involved in a ‘multi-million pound’ battle for the naming rights to West Ham’s home ground the London Stadium.

A report from The Evening Standard claims LLDC have been leading negotiations with German finance giants Allianz and American ticket company Stage Front.

As reported on Hammers News, West Ham would get a share of the money of any deal over £4m and have the power of veto.

It’s not the only potential big money sponsorship deal on the horizon for the Hammers, though.

Claim about potential new West Ham shirt sponsor

There has been much speculation surrounding West Ham’s main sponsor Betway. With betting companies widely expected to be banned from the front of football shirts, the likes of West Ham and another nine Premier League clubs may have to find new sponsors.

Vice chair Karren Brady confirmed West Ham are in line for a new sponsor to replace Betway when discussing the stadium naming rights earlier this year.

In a five-page letter back in February, Brady made it clear West Ham would soon be going to market to find a new main sponsor. And she made it clear that packaging West Ham’s sponsorship with a naming rights deal is the best approach.

Now a major claim has been made about a potential new West Ham shirt sponsor to replace Betway as a board confidant provides a detailed update.

Board confidant delivers update and posts mock-up

Sean Whetstone counts Brady among his contacts inside West Ham.

And he claims Allianz are showing an interest in becoming West Ham’s shirt sponsor as a potential replacement for Betway.

Whetstone claims the German firm are attracted by the ‘worldwide exposure’ Premier League West Ham would give them.

Whetstone also posted a mock-up of how the Hammers kit would look with Allianz as the sponsor.

“Allianz’s main interest in the London Stadium and Queen Elizabeth Park naming rights is West Ham and the Premier League worldwide exposure,” Whetstone said.

“The German financial firm are likely to try to tie up shirt sponsorship when Betway’s shirt sponsorship ends in 2025.”

Previously a Hammers News city source claimed sports chain Foot Locker – part-owned by West Ham co-owner Daniel Kretinsky – could be a possible future shirt sponsor for West Ham.
