Major Said Benrahma news goes under the radar and David Moyes will be delighted because it could be a serious boost for West Ham.

In many ways it has been a difficult season for West Ham winger Said Benrahma so far but there could light at the end of a dark tunnel.

For him and the Hammers.

After the highs of scoring in the Europa Conference League final to help West Ham lift their first major trophy in over four decades, Benrahma has found himself down David Moyes’ pecking order this term.

Benrahma has also endured a torrid time with Algeria.

Major Benrahma news goes under the radar

The Hammers ace was blasted by a teammate over a tussle to take a penalty and then physically confronted by the national team boss after being substituted.

The arrivals of Mohammed Kudus and midfielders James Ward-Prowse and Edson Alvarez has seen Lucas Paqueta often pushed out to the left. As a result Benrahma has slipped out of West Ham’s side.

Last week Moyes admitted he may have to look at signing players in January with West Ham set to lose four players – three of them key stars – to AFCON for as many as six games in the new year.

Benrahma was one of them along with Kudus, Nayef Aguerd and Maxwel Cornet.

But some major Benrahma news has gone under the radar and Moyes will be delighted because it could be a serious boost for West Ham.

Moyes will be delighted because it could be a serious boost

It seems to have gone by the wayside somewhat that Benrahma – after the fallout with his boss and teammate during the October international break – has been snubbed for the latest Algeria squad.

He has not been called up with Algeria beating Somalia 3-1 on Thursday.

This is the last squad before Djamel Belmadi names his squad for AFCON.

So it now looks highly unlikely Benrahma will be selected.

And from a selfish point of view that is fantastic news for Moyes and West Ham.

Indeed it may even be the ideal opportunity for Benrahma to save his West Ham career.

Of course players love to represent their national team at major tournaments. But after the way he was treated by Belmadi and Islam Slimani, perhaps Benrahma is better off out of that environment.

Clearly the manager is holding a grudge and so the Hammers ace probably wouldn’t feature much if at all if he was selected for AFCON anyway.
