‘It makes me smile’: David Moyes’ utterly bizarre Premier League take will make West Ham fans fume

David Moyes has made a strange admission about the Premier League table, given West Ham United’s current situation.

West Ham are currently sitting in 15th in the Premier League table, level on points with 18th placed Bournemouth, and David Moyes is really feeling the pressure.

The majority of Hammers fans think that Moyes should have been moved on from the London Stadium quite some time ago.

We are one of only two sides inside the bottom nine who have not sacked their managers this season.

And reporters close to the club continue to insist that the board have no immediate plans to remove Moyes from his position as West Ham manager.

It’s so frustrating because with the players that we have, a new forward-thinking, innovative and dynamic young manager would be able to take us to another level, I have no doubt about that.

However, Moyes is clearly here to stay for some time yet. And his latest comments won’t do himself any favours with the Hammers fans, that’s for sure…

West Ham boss David Moyes makes really strange comment about Premier League table

The 59-year-old Hammers manager addressed the media during his pre-match press conference yesterday afternoon.

And Moyes responded when asked about how tricky it is to succeed when looking at the Premier League table now, as quoted by Football.London:

“It makes me smile, I look at it and I think to myself, look how well Brighton are doing and Brentford and Fulham have done this year. You look at it in the last couple of years at West Ham, we have been right among the top teams. Everybody is having a real go. I don’t really think there is any guarantee that if you do well one season, it means that you’re necessarily well the next season. There’s a couple of clubs, us probably in particular who we would look at in that situation. I do think that there’s a really, really competitive Premier League and it would be very difficult to judge how it will work out next year as well because I think a lot of the teams will look to improve, but you just never know how it works out.”

This is a common tactic that Moyes has used to ease the pressure eon himself this season.

He has constantly remarked on how many surprises there have been in the Premier League this season, i.e Brighton, Brentford and Fulham all doing so well.

However, he has messed up here by suggesting that he smiles when looking at the table, given the gravity of the Hammers’ current situation.

Relegation down to the Championship is a very real prospect for us this season yet our manager is smiling because other teams are unexpectedly doing well? Sorry but that’s not an acceptable comment in my opinion and once again highlight’s the Scot’s arrogance and obvious belief that he’s bulletproof, or immune from criticism.

David Moyes worked wonders for West Ham for two seasons. He failed to evolve though, and still isn’t brave enough to set up his team with a positive mindset. He’s not the man to take the Hammers forward.

Those comments about the Premier League table tell us all we need to know about his ambition, and the owners for that matter.
