David Moyes has dropped a clear hint that one West Ham United player will be dropped for next weekend’s Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest.

West Ham made so many sloppy mistakes during our 3-2 defeat to Brentford on Saturday, and I reckon that one player is set to pay the price for his poor performance, with David Moyes set to wield the axe.

Hammers centre-back Nayef Aguerd has been really inconsistent this season, and there has definitely been more bad than good on show from him.

Signed for £27 million from Rennes in the summer of 2022 (The Athletic), it initially seemed like we had a real player on our hands. However, his concerning deficiencies as a centre-back really have come home to roost this season.

The 27-year-old Moroccan’s poor concentration levels and amateur positional awareness has cost us on numerous occasions this term, and it was recently claimed that he could have rejoined his former club Rennes in the summer transfer window.

He was at it again at Brentford on Saturday. Aguerd was involved in some atrocious defending for Neal Maupay’s opener, and then he inexplicably knocked the ball out for a corner in the second-half after a really clumsy touch.

Surprise, surprise the Bees ended up scoring from that set-piece, and Moyes made it very clear that defending like that is unacceptable…

David Moyes drops huge hint that he’s finally ready to drop £27 million West Ham man

The Scot was absolutely fuming after his side lost 3-2 to Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

And he clearly pointed the finger at Aguerd, after the Moroccan’s comical defending against the Bees, as quoted by the Evening Standard:

“We’ve not dealt with things which as a player I would have been disgusted with myself for not being able to deal with.”

Listen, Aguerd has been asking to be dropped for some time now, after a succession of really poor displays.

The Moroccan is very good on the ball and has a terrific array of passing, but he just makes too many mistakes in my opinion.

It’s time for him to come out of the team now – his relationship and understanding with Kurt Zouma is utterly shambolic as well, let’s have it right.

David Moyes absolutely must give West Ham duo Zouma and Konstantinos Mavropanos the chance to build a solid partnership together.

The Scot’s comments over the weekend were clearly aimed at Aguerd, and I reckon he’ll come out of the team for the Forest clash on Sunday. If he’s included in the side for our Europa League clash with Olympiacos, it will be a huge clue that he’s set to drop out of the Premier League starting lineup.
