A crazy claim has emerged about Nayef Aguerd, just one year and four months into his West Ham United career.
Nayef Aguerd joined West Ham from French side Rennes in June 2022 for around £30 million according to Sky Sports.

The 27-year-old centre-back has been linked with a move away from West Ham already, with the likes of Liverpool and certain Saudi Arabian clubs said to be interested in the Moroccan’s signature.

He is still under contract at the London Stadium until the summer of 2027, and David Moyes is clearly a huge fan of the Hammers defender.
Aguerd has actually been in poor form this season, but that hasn’t stopped Moyes from playing him in every single game apart from the one that he was suspended for.
However, it seems as though he could have been on his way out of the club just a few months ago…
Crazy claim emerges about Nayef Aguerd just 16 months into his West Ham career
According to claims from François Rauzy via his radio show on Le lundi, c’est Rauzy and covered via Actu SRFC, the Hammers had agreed to sell Aguerd back to Rennes in the summer, and the player himself was keen to rejoin the Ligue 1 side as well.
However, West Ham boss David Moyes vetoed the move, and the Morocco international remained in East London in the end.
I’m sorry but I just don’t believe this one little bit. Aguerd finally gets his big move to the best league in the world but then agrees to move back to Ligue 1 just a year later?

I’m not having that for a second. Aguerd may be struggling right now, but he has shown plenty of quality in the past, and he seems to be more than happy at the London Stadium.
Aside from that, I just don’t believe that the West Ham owners would have been willing to sell Aguerd so soon after buying him either. Rennes are hardly flush with cash, so they certainly wouldn’t have made a mammoth offer for the Hammers defender.
I think that Nayef Aguerd definitely could leave West Ham at some point over the next year or so. However, there’s simply no way he would have been prepared to move back to Rennes from the Hammers so soon after leaving them to move to East London in my opinion.
