David Moyes was not entirely to blame for the Newcastle defeat last night, but the West Ham manager’s 63rd minute decision was unforgivable.
West Ham were beaten 5-1 by Newcastle at the London Stadium last night and David Moyes would have been pulling his hair out after some of the individual errors committed by his players.

I am not Moyes’s biggest fan – far from it in fact. The Scot should have been sacked before the World Cup break, there’s no doubt about that in my mind.

However, last night wasn’t really on him. The defeat to Newcastle was down to the players.
That said, there was one decision that Moyes made that was absolutely crazy in my opinion…
David Moyes made unforgivable decision last night
With the Hammers trailing the Toon by three goals to one, with around half an hour remaining, Moyes made four substitutions.
Nothing wrong with that in itself of course – he doesn’t do it enough in my opinion.
However, one change in particular was shocking to me. He took off Michail Antonio and replaced him with Danny Ings.
Firstly, when trailing 3-1, why not go for the game and play two strikers up front together?

Secondly, Ings has proven throughout his career that he is a six-yard box striker and only performs well when playing alongside a partner.
It is painful viewing watching Ings play up front on his own. He has no pace and is incapable of running the channels.
Moyes even alluded to the fact that Ings has to play with a partner last week. So why did he bring him on as a solo striker? It all just makes no sense at all.
You know what they say about men under pressure making bad decisions. The Scot has certainly made some awful ones this season.
However, the decision from David Moyes to bring on Ings in place of Antonio last night was truly unforgivable in my opinion.
