David Moyes has shared what he told the West Ham players at half-time during our 5-1 defeat to Newcastle last night.
West Ham were soundly beaten by Newcastle at the London Stadium last night and David Moyes would have been absolutely fuming with some of the individual errors that his players made.

The Hammers gave away two incredibly poor goals inside the first 15 minutes last night but we actually got back into the game just before the half-time break with a goal from Kurt Zouma.

However, the hope that that goal gave us turned out to be very short-lived indeed.
Newcastle ended up winning the match comfortably, but it was an error made by Nayef Aguerd just after the half-time interval that knocked the stuffing out of us.

The Scot addressed the media for his post-match press conference last night and discussed his side’s defeat to the Toon.
And Moyes responded when asked by reporters to sum up the 5-1 defeat to Newcastle, as quoted by Football.London:
“At 2-1 at half time, I was saying, ‘we’re right in the game here, go about your job, do the right things’. Within 15/20 seconds, we had given ourselves a mountain to climb by giving away a third goal.”

Just after getting back into the game, Newcastle’s third goal absolutely killed us.
I’m certainly not Moyes’s biggest fan but last night’s defeat was on the players in my opinion.
You quite simply cannot legislate for some of the mistakes that were made out there against the Magpies. These are experienced players making truly shocking errors, time and time again.
West Ham losing 5-1 to Newcastle last night was really hard to take. There were times when the Hammers actually played some good stuff but we were once again undone by individual mistakes.
And the performance levels of the players have to be raised over the next month or so, if we are to retain our Premier League status.
