Danny Ings says he did not expect to join West Ham from Aston Villa in the January transfer window.

West Ham United signed Danny Ings from Villa in the January transfer window for around £15 million (Sky Sports).

The 30-year-old has scored just two goals for the Hammers since his move from Villa, both coming in one game against Nottingham Forest at the end of last month.

However, he has been working his way into David Moyes’s team and getting used to the Scot’s system

The former Liverpool, Southampton and Burnley hitman has shown us glimpses of what he’s capable of with his exceptional movement and precise finishing ability.

I do believe that Moyes needs to play someone up front alongside the 30-year-old in order to get the best out of him though.

In spite of that, it does seem like Ings is very comfortable at the London Stadium…

Danny Ings admits he didn’t expect to join West Ham

The 30-year-old was banging the goals in for Villa during the first half of the season.

And Ings told Sky Sports how the opportunity to join West Ham from Aston Villa in January came completely out of the blue:

“I didn’t actually expect to leave. I was doing quite well for Villa at the time, I was scoring goals so it was a bit unexpected and it happened so quickly. The transition happened in about 48 hours, I think. To get it done so quickly and be involved in that first game when I signed, it was a great feeling.”

West Ham desperately need Danny Ings to start scoring with regularity between now and the end of the season.

Moyes brought him to the London Stadium to make a difference for us during the tight games, what with his finishing ability.

And what better time for the 30-year-old to add to his tally in a Hammers shirt than tomorrow against his former club Southampton.

I’m backing Ings to score against the Saints and to help us get what would be a massive three points.
