Danny Ings has the potential to be one of West Ham United’s worst signings in recent history.

West Ham boss David Moyes brought Danny Ings to the London Stadium from Aston Villa in the January transfer window for around £15 million (Sky Sports).

However, Ings has really struggled to make any kind of impact whatsoever with the Hammers. He has scored only two goals in 10 games (Transfermarkt) – with both of those coming in one game in February.

The experienced striker is incapable of playing up front on his own through the middle and Moyes recently admitted that.

That admission in itself makes the fact that Moyes signed him truly baffling – the Scot doesn’t like playing with two up top and never has done throughout his managerial career.

The striker hasn’t looked anywhere near good enough since moving to East London in January.

And Ings’ performance today was yet another really poor one, in spite of the fact that he was paired with a partner in the form of Michail Antonio…

Danny Ings could end up being a terrible signing for West Ham

We all know that the 30-year-old is terribly injury prone, and he has already missed a few games for us through injury.

Ings suffered what looked like knee injury again today, but hobbled on before being taken off on the hour.

Aside from not being 100 per cent fit the former Aston Villa, Southampton, Liverpool and Burnley hitman just doesn’t seem to have the legs to be a success in the Premier League anymore.

Ings has absolutely zero pace and doesn’t have the power needed to play the lone role. His movement is very good, but in this team he gets no service, so he is rendered as completely useless most of the time.

The 30-year-old had one golden chance against Fulham today in the second-half, but he fluffed his lines when through on goal.

I know it’s still very early days in Danny Ings’ West Ham career but the early signs are really not very good. Let’s hoper that I’m wrong and he ends up being a huge hit at the London Stadium.

I just can’t see it though, unfortunately.
