One West Ham United player faces a bleak future at the London Stadium after his omission from the starting XI for the Backa Topola clash last night.

West Ham beat Backa Topola 1-0 in the Europa League yesterday, after a late Tomas Soucek winner papered over the cracks of what was a truly dire display.

Hammers boss David Moyes would not have been happy with his players – they really were poor on the night – read our player ratings by clicking here.

It was a clunky performance all round from everyone involved really, and there would have been players sitting on the bench wondering how on earth they didn’t get into the team.

One of them was Thilo Kehrera player we signed from Paris Saint-Germain for £13 million in the summer of 2022.

The 27-year-old German has failed to establish himself at the London Stadium, and now the end could be nigh for his West Ham career…

Ultimate snub for Kehrer in Backa Topola vs West Ham clash

Somehow, Ben Johnson started ahead of the former PSG man out in Serbia last night. As poor as Kehrer has been at times, he’s streets ahead of the 23-year-old.

So the starting lineup snub from Moyes will tell the German all he needs to know about his future in East London – he has already been linked with a move to Bayern Munich.

The defender did get an 11 minute run-out, but it won’t be enough to appease him, I’m sure of that.

Kehrer has been incredibly wild at times when playing for West Ham. His decision making has been poor and his rash challenges have caused him problems in the Premier League.

However, you don’t get 27 international caps for Germany if you’re not any good, and I’m sure that he’s a better player than Ben Johnson.

As much stick as the German has received from some sections of West Ham fans, I will never forget his performance in the Europa Conference League final when he replaced the injured Kurt Zouma with 30 minutes still to play.

The 27-year-old was truly exceptional, and I really expected him to kick on this season. That hasn’t happened whatsoever though, and the ultimate Backa Topola vs West Ham starting XI snub that he received from Moyes last night could be the final nail in his coffin.
