Lucas Paqueta has been one of West Ham United’s best players this season, so it’s a huge worry that we might lose him at some point in the future.
West Ham signed Lucas Paqueta from Lyon in the summer of 2022 for around £51 million (The Times), and he has gone on to establish himself as a firm fan favourite at the London Stadium.
Hammers boss David Moyes is obviously a huge fan of the Brazilian as well, and recently admitted that he really enjoys the midfielder’s showboating.
Paqueta is hugely important to this West Ham team, so recent reports linking him with Manchester City have been really concerning to hear.
The thing is, keeping the 26-year-old at the London Stadium will be an incredibly difficult thing to do, if Man City do indeed come knocking.
The key to making a smooth transition if we are forced to sell Paqueta is to bring in a younger replacement with huge potential BEFORE the South American has even left the club.
And it seems as though that’s exactly what Moyes is planning to do…

West Ham eyeing Lucas Paqueta replacement
According to 90min, Georgiy Sudakov is firmly on the Hammers’ radar ahead of the January transfer window.
Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Arsenal and Newcastle United are also being credited with interest in signing the 21-year-old starlet.
Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Juventus want to sign Sudakov as well, and Shakhtar Donetsk will demand around £26 million for his signature.
That would represent fantastic value for West Ham as far as I’m concerned.
He has banged 13 goals and 13 assists in 81 games for Shakhtar (Transfermarkt) – a fine return for someone so young.
The 21-year-old is at his best when playing in the number 10 position, although he can play anywhere in midfield really.
Sudakov possesses technical ability in abundance and has a keen eye for goal and a killer pass.
Whilst he isn’t anywhere near the levels of Lucas Paqueta just yet, I think he’d be a fantastic addition for West Ham if we manage to win the race for his signature.
