West Ha United player ratings for tonight’s Europa League Group A clash with TSC Backa Topola.
TSC Backa Topola played host to West Ham in the Europa League tonight, and David Moyes gave chances to many of his fringe players.
The Hammers have been extremely slow out the blocks this season whenever Moyes has fielded a weakened side, and that will be a huge concern for the Scot.
There are so many fringe players in the West Ham squad who are quite simply not good enough any more.
We really missed the likes of Jarrod Bowen, Mohammed Kudus and Edson Alvarez against TSC. Our play was clunky through the middle of the park and some of the performances from seasoned professionals were quite frankly appalling.
So how did the players fare? Hammers News picked the bones out of the West Ham performance and rated the players out of 10…

The ratings system is based on a 6/10 being a completely average performance, i.e nothing too badd and nothing too good.
Lukasz Fabianski 6.5
Didn’t do much aside from a decent save that he made inside the first-half. Commanded his penalty area with authority but his distribution wasn’t great. However, a clean sheet cannot be sniffed at.
Ben Johnson 6
The 23-year-old has hit a brick wall regarding his development it seems. He didn’t do anything wrong tonight but he didn’t really stand out either.
Nayef Aguerd 6.5
The Moroccan’s display was fine today, but he wasn’t really involved defensively too much. Once again, his exceptional distribution got us on the front foot on numerous occasions.
Konstantinos Mavropanos 7.5
The standout player for the Hammers tonight. The Greek centre-back was solid as a rock, both in the air and on the ground. The TSC attackers got little change from the 25-year-old defender – he was very impressive indeed, and he oozed composure.
Aaron Cresswell 4
Absolutely awful performance from the 33-year-old. He gave the ball away in a dangerous area in the first-half with a shockingly lazy pass, and TSC nearly scored from it. I’ll be very surprised if we see Cresswell in a West Ham shirt again after tonight’s display.
Tomas Soucek 7.5
Solid if not spectacular, but he scored the winner for us and that late goal probably added 1.5 to his score.
James Ward-Prowse 6.5
The 29-year-old was busy in midfield throughout the game but his set-piece deliveries weren’t as on-point as they usually are.
Lucas Paqueta 6
Tried to make things happen but it was an off night for the Brazilian against TSC.
Pablo Fornals 5
I feel for the Spaniard, I really do. He’s hardly played for us over the past 13-14 months, and it showed tonight. Fornals was incredibly rusty and looked completely devoid of confidence.
Said Benrahma 4
Utterly dreadful performance. Shooting and crossing well off the boil yet again from the Algerian and he was hooked after 65 minutes.
Divin Mubama 5.5
The 19-year-old worked incredibly hard but ended the game with nothing to show for his efforts. In his defence, he was extremely isolated and was completely starved of any kind of decent service.

Maxwel Cornet 7.5
Brilliant assist from the Ivorian and a timely reminder for Moyes of what he has to offer. He was a real live-wire and his first Premier League start of the season surely isn’t too far away.
Danny Ings 5
The 31-year-old did nothing of note yet again – surprise, surprise.
Emerson Palmieri 6
The Italian didn’t really have enough time to get involved in the game.
Thilo Kehrer 6
The German was much the same as Emerson, not enough time to make any kind of impact.
A win is a win, but the performance as a whole will really concern Moyes, his staff and the fans. Vast improvements are needed from many of the players who started tonight, if they are to have futures at the London Stadium.
