David Moyes has offered high words of praise for one West Ham United player in particular after our 2-1 Europa League win over Freiburg last night.

West Ham now sit comfortably at the top of Group A in the Europa League after last night’s victory against Bundesliga side Freiburg.

David Moyes would have been absolutely delighted with the calm and mature manner with which his Hammers players went about their jobs last night.

There were plenty of individual performances to be proud of, and one of them was James Ward-Prowse…shock horror.

The 28-year-old chalked up his sixth assist of the season last night, to go along with two goals that he scored earlier on in the campaign. Eight goals involvements in eight games is a very good return isn’t it!

And Moyes admitted after last night’s game just how impressed he has been with the former Southampton midfielder…

West Ham ace lauded by Moyes after Europa League win over Freiburg

The Hammers boss addressed the media after his side won 2-1 out in Germany at The Europa-Park Stadion last night.

And Moyes chose to praise Ward-Prowse when asked about the players who impressed him against Freiburg, as quoted by WHUFC.com:

“James Ward-Prowse has been great for us. As have Edson and all the boys who have come in. We’re doing well in the cups and we’re in a decent position in the league at the moment. We want to keep it going. We don’t want to shout too much about it, but James’ deliveries are fabulous.”

West Ham have clearly become a better all around team after Declan Rice left to join Arsenal, and Ward-Prowse and Edson Alvarez were signed to replace him.

The 28-year-old is an exceptional footballer and to label him as a set-piece specialist does him a disservice.

Ward-Prowse is so much more than that. Sure, he’s arguably the best free-kick and corner taker in world football, but his technical ability, energy, stamina leadership and robustness go under the radar somewhat.

The midfielder is the total package as far as I’m concerned. And Moyes clearly agrees with that statement, following his comments after West Ham’s 2-1 Europa League win over Freiburg last night.
