West Ham transfers 2023: David Moyes is eyeing a move to sell 29-year-old Hammer in the January window, report claims.

According to Claret and Hugh, Moyes is planning a fire-sale at the London Stadium in January, in order to raise funds for one or two new signings.

West Ham are in real trouble at the moment, and are currently sitting in 16th spot in the Premier League table, just one point clear of the drop zone.

As a result, Moyes has already received a strict warning from the Hammers owners that results and form MUST improve.

With games against Arsenal, Brentford and Leeds on the horizon when Premier League action resumes though, the Scot will have to make big changes to his pragmatic, pedestrian paced playing style, if he is to turn things around.

Will there be a change of personnel at the London Stadium as well this winter though?

West Ham transfers 2023 – experienced ace could be on his way out

Claret and Hugh reckon that Manuel Lanzini is one of five players that Moyes could try to sell in the January transfer window.

He has already been linked with a London Stadium exit, but journalist Dean Jones suggested last month that the Argentinian ace is still an important squad member at West Ham.

Lanzini is out of contract at the end of the season, but West Ham have the option to extend that deal by a further two years.

Lanzini was signed for around £9 million on a permanent deal six years ago (The Mirror), having spent the 2015/16 campaign on loan at Upton Park.

The Argentinian ace actually returned to somewhere near his best for the Hammers last season, having spent a few years in the doldrums after suffering a serious knee injury in 2018.

Lanzini is a hugely popular figure at the London Stadium. He really does seem to love the club and the fans love him as well.

I actually think that the Hammers star would be better of used as a deep-lying midfielder, from where he can dictate the tempo of the game.

Manuel Lanzini still has a role to play at West Ham, even if it is a bit-part one in my opinion.

And I would be hugely shocked to see him sold in January, despite a recent report to the contrary.

We could be in for plenty of West Ham transfers in January 2023. However, Lanzini won’t be one of them in my opinion.

If he is going to leave the London Stadium, it will be more likely that he goes in the summer.
