West Ham United and Arsenal allegedly want to sign talented Wolfsburg defender Maxence Lacroix this summer.

That’s according to a report from French media outlet Media Foot who claim that the Hammers are set to battle it out with Arsenal for the 22-year-old centre-back’s signature in the summer transfer window.

West Ham were first linked with a move to sign Lacroix at the start of last month and allegedly faced competition from Newcastle for the Frenchman.

And now it seems as though Arsenal have joined the race as well.

David Moyes has already strengthened his central defensive ranks at the London Stadium with the capture of Nayef Aguerd last month.

It could be argued that West Ham actually need another centre-back, however, with Angelo Ogbonna and Craig Dawson 34 and 32 respectively and Issa Diop apparently set for an exit (Claret and Hugh).

Media Foot reckon that the Hammers and Arsenal are battling it out to sign the 22-year-old Wolfsburg ace in the summer transfer window.

If Moyes manages to win the race for Lacroix, he would be an absolutely brilliant signing for West Ham.

The 6ft 3in defender cuts a really imposing figure and is very strong in the air. He’s quick along the ground as well and is a great reader of the game.

The Frenchman plays with a certain kind of maturity that defies his tender years.

In 29 Bundesliga appearances for Wolfsburg last season, Lacroix averaged two tackles, 2.1 interceptions, 4.8 clearances and 2.6 successful aerial duels per game (Who Scored).

The 22-year-old made 52.4 passes per game and recorded a completion rate of 81.4% (Who Scored).

Lacroix would be a sensational signing for West Ham but Arsenal will obviously represent a huge problem for us.

If Lacroix demands huge wages, and with a €40 million (£34 million) clause inserted into his Wolfsburg contract (Buli News), West Ham might find it hard to compete with Arsenal.

The 22-year-old is a hugely talented young centre-back and possesses all of the attributes needed to succeed in the Premier League. Bundesliga social media manager Alex Chaffer recently labelled him as a ‘magnificent’ defender.

We would absolutely love it if Moyes brings Maxence Lacroix to West Ham in the summer transfer window.

As mentioned earlier though, Arsenal’s interest in signing him will undoubtedly be problematic for us.
