West Ham United are reportedly now keen to sign German star Florian Neuhaus in the January transfer window.

The January transfer window will be key for West Ham, and Florian Neuhaus may well the next signing David Moyes makes.

Kalvin Phillips seems to be on the verge of joining the Hammers, and we apparently have an option to buy him in place for the summer.

Moyes needs to strengthen other areas of his squad now, with the impending arrival of Phillips ensuring that we have the engine room department well covered.

However, it appears as though the Scot isn’t done bringing in midfielders just yet, with Neuhaus firmly on his radar.

It is claimed that we could face competition from Aston Villa for the 26-year-old’s signature though…

West Ham now want to sign Florian Neuhaus in January

According to a report from Bild, the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder is a target for the Hammers this winter.

Neuhaus is a very good footballer, and has 10 caps for Germany to his name. He is an orthodox central midfielder, but can also operate in the defensive midfield position or even the number 10 role if need be.

It must be said though, I just don’t see the need for the Monchengladbach ace, if Phillips is indeed set to join us.

Moyes’s top priorities now should be to sign a centre-forward, a centre-back and a right-back. I’m all for Moyes looking for as much strength in depth as possible, but we just don’t need another central midfielder right now, it’s as simple as that.

Florian Neuhaus would have been a strong addition for West Ham, if we weren’t signing Phillips from Manchester City this month.

However, I just don’t think it will be happening, with the England international apparently en route to the London Stadium.
